Titan the Mastiff - Swirls around His Eyes

Is this some radical new therapy?

I love the swirls of alternating color around his eyes.

He's such the bigster -- expressing all of my feelings.

Gorgeous Rescued Dogs Need a Home

Lara
Hilary
Love me

Here are a couple of pics from steffiegyrl's photos at Flickr. From her profile I learned that she works in an animal shelter and these are some of the dogs she meets. She also tends two kids 5 dogs and 5 cats at home. Wow that's a lot of animal.

Though I haven't set up this blog to find homes for sheltered pets, I'd love it to be an informal web location to show off dogs in need of a home. If you have a pic and a description/anecdote of a dog in need of a home, Contact me.

These dogs are gorgeous and deserve a home. They obviously have so much love to give. They just need a little love, some food and walking in return.

If you live striking distance from New Jersey and are interested, send Flickr mail to Stephiegyrl and I'm sure she'd love to make the match.

Lara is the darker one and Hillary is the one with the white nose. Steffie wrote about Hillary, "She sings when you rub her belly."

Gregory Dog in Lots of Snow

SNOW GEORGY

Gregory looks like a fine sport. That snow collecting around his nose looks really cold.

Having the fur coat is sure handy. I'm sure Gregory bounded about in joy in the fresh snow. But now I think he's saying, "Enough, I'm ready for some hot chocolate and my warm pillow."

So Soft Dog

IMG_0016

Life can be so hard. The scene in this pic is so soft. The soft couch, the soft fur on this regal lab. I want to put my head down right next to this dog's.

It looks like there may even be a view to ponder looking through the window.

I doubt this labrador is actually sad, but the sad look picks up a certain sadness in me which longs for the softness as a comfort.

The pic is from rafelweb's photostream.

Cozy

Wrapped up

Cisco is lookin' so cozy here.

I just look at this pic and think about how nice it is to be wrapped up... It suggests: safe, comfortable, warmth, contentment.

And Cisco, not worrying about paying the rent or putting food on the table... looks totally satisfied.

Giving in to the Beg

Giving in to the Beg

This pic is from MBH2020's Flikr photostream. His title also.

Just recently I was telling friends, as we were eating in our Sukkah, "We used all of our disciplining skills up on our children in order to make healthy, well adjusted kids (hopefully). But we had nothing left for Boaz (our dog). This is narrated as Boaz repeatedly stands up to lean his paws on the table and peer over it to see if there is anything he can snag.

Well behaved kids, poorly behaved dog. I'll take it. A guy only has so much energy? I may be deluding myself.

Why do we give in so easily to our pets? (They are soooo cute? Is that one reason?)

Big dog... little dog

Big dog... Little Dog
Lancer Day One - Arrival

Ohhhh, so sweet how the yellow lab (Quaver) is playing with the little puppy (Lancer). From the Flikr page where th pic comes from:

Quaver (the yellow lab) is very gentle with him, not tugging too hard.

We long for harmony, for appropriateness, for siblings to get along, for hard play, but not too hard.

Here from dogdom Quaver and Lancer draw our out our desire to get along and maybe give us some hope that we can play appropriately in our own lives.

Why does cuteness make us feel so good!

Wet and happy

I love the beach

Prince-like proud golden
Still wet after shaking off
Stops to catch his breath

King Charles pup is the face of hope

Patch

When I look into the face of the other, am I not looking to see some unfulfilled part of myself expressed boldly in the other?

Or a piece of myself that I once had, that now is now lost?

Staring into the face of this pup, I feel stirrings of hope, curiosity, and a memory of having felt truly comfortable in my own skin.

Thank you Your Highness.

And thanks to lynnirene for the great pic from her photostream.

Boxer dog at rest

Timber the Boxer

Here is Timber the Boxer.
I suspect dogs and young children do not have long to-do lists.

Is it this freedom from the tyranny of productivity that causes adult human beings to sigh upon seeing them at rest?

Timber is a foster dog. Kyle, his foster dad, tells me he is training him and trying to find a home for him. Visit Boxerbuddies.org to learn more and see a lot more boxers needing homes.

Straight at 'ya. No foolin', just me.

I'm a Jack Russel terrier with clouds and sky behind me.

Who are you? What's your name?

Thanks to Keith Findlay for the great pic from his photostream.

Boaz sleeping in the front of the television

boaz-tv

Boaz is sleeping on the relatively cool, very old, pine wood floor in our play room.

The room is dark, illuminated only by the light of the television which is playing Star Wars V. The plot seems utterly uninteresting to him.

What is key here, and what is driving the plot, from Boaz' point of view, is the simple fact that my wife and son are in the room. He wants to be where the people are. It doesn't matter what they doing. They are simply human, the ones he knows best, and he will rearrange everything in order to be around it.

Post Kiss Blur

Bone-a-Fide Dog Ranch

This pic seems to have been taken just after the dog has slurped the person in the picture. The human/dog connection is sealed with a (slimy?) kiss!

Scamper and a Hug

Boaz runs up porch, repeated in slow motion - and then he settles into G's lap after which he pants directly into the camera.

In the slow mo part I love how his dog tags sound so deep. And I love how Boaz turns around when he realizes G is behind him, lap ready to be sat in.

Oh the simple treats in life: a scamper and a hug!
